Dr Afzal Javed

MBBS, MCPS, D.Psych (Lond), Board Cert.Psych (UK), M.Phil (Edin), FRC Psych. (UK), FRCP (Ireland)

Professor Afzal Javed OBE is a Consultant Psychiatrist and an Honorary Clinical Associate Professor at Warwick Medical School, University of Warwick, UK. He completed his term as the President of the World Psychiatric Association in 2023. He has also been the Past President of both the Asia Federation of Psychiatric Associations (AFPA) from 2017-19 and the World Association for Psychosocial Rehabilitation (WAPR) from 2012-15. In 2022, he was conferred the Pakistani Civil Award “Sitara-i-Imtiaz” (the third-highest honour and civilian award in the State of Pakistan).

His areas of special interest are Social and Transcultural Psychiatry, Psychosocial Rehabilitation and Psychiatric Research. He has published more than 140 scientific papers and has written six books and monographs on psychiatry.



Dr. Anil Gumber

Ph.D; PostDoc Takemi Fellow (International Health, Harvard), Emeritus Senior Fellow & Visiting Professor at Sheffield Hallam & Coventry University

Over the past 40 years, Dr Anil has actively involved in research in Socioeconomics, Well-being and Health Economics. His UK economic evaluation policy-relevant studies include: Exercise intervention for venous leg ulceration healing; E-cigarette vs. quit smoking impact on cardiovascular health; Diabetes; Sport and physical activity participation.



Dr Ahmed Waqas

MBBS, PhD, Postdoctoral Fellow, Institute of Population Health, University of Liverpool, UK

Dr Ahmed is also a postdoctoral researcher at Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust, Liverpool, UK. His interests lie in perinatal and child mental health and medical education in low and middle income countries. His aims are to develop an interdisciplinary skill set spanning across psychiatry, public health and applications of data science and artificial intelligence.
